Most of the experiences, people, relationships and situations I at one point hated in my past have helped me discover myself, my likes, and dislikes. Now that I am older and wiser (always room for growth), I have taken better control of what I choose to bring into my life.


I know in the moment of these growing opportunities  they really are not fun to deal with. So for those going through these moments, ask yourself how you can use each situation to learn more about yourself.

For instance, in that relationship that seemed to devastate you…. What did you learn from it?

Are you better at communicating and resolving problems early in relationships? Or, is that still an area for you to grow in? Were there characteristics in your partner, in which you would like to see again, or run away from?

I am happy to get wiser and grow. It definitely has helped me in choosing the people I want to be around with, the relationships I want to end, and opportunities that will bring me growth, happiness, and success.  I have stopped committing myself to events, which I know I will not enjoy and will cause misery. That right there, makes me super happy because I can always seem to overcommit myself, which leaves me feeling resentful etc.

The decisions I make now are choices that I have committed to knowing that for one reason or another will bring value to my life, values, and goals.

So, just to remind myself and help you  here are some benefits of self discovery and learning more about yourself.

  4. You will have better discernment of opportunities you should take and stay away from.

  5. You will reduce events that will cause you unnecessary pain or stress.

  6. You will be more productive, and waste less time doing the things that won’t help you.

  7. You will have an easier time expressing your feelings to others.

  8. You will be happier  with the decisions you make even if they all don’t work out well.

  9. You will have the desire to go after your dreams, and try new things.

  10. You will find yourself desiring to surround yourself with the right people that will support you and help you establish a balanced happy life.

 Take Action: 

The more you experience, the more opportunities of self discovery you have.

If you find yourself asking, “Why am I going through this?” try to write it down in a journal, and come up with possibilities of how each can benefit you in the future. Try to find some positive in everything. Choose to live a happier and healthier life.
